5.0 Campaign
Special Rules
5.0.1
Italian Special Rules
Whole Campaign - With
the allies scared of any Italian assets being provided to the Germans the
Italians are low on air power, giving control of the skies to the Germans. This
means that in every battle the Italians are affected by a ‘pre-game barrage’ as
specified by the rules. Taking an adjutant does not stop this rule from
applying.
After fourth battle
(19 September) - Gandin repeatedly sent requests to the Ministry of War in
Brindisi for aid but to no available. 300 Italian plane, loyal to Badoglio were
located at Lecce, well within range of Cephalonia and were ready to intervene
as well as two torpedo boats. Both the boats and the planes were refused to
leave their bases by the allies for fears they would defect – To simulate a
potential allied change of heart, after the fourth battle (19 September) the
Italian player should roll a D6 – on a 5 or 6 the allies release the planes and
boats and the pre-game barrage rule will no longer effect the Italians for the
rest of the campaign.
First and second
battle only (15 and 16 September only) - For the first couple of days of
the conflict the Italians enjoyed superiority on the ground, taking 400 Germans
prisoner from Lt Colonel Barge’s command. When Major Harald von Hirschfeld’s 1st
Gebirsjager Division landed on the island on 17 September it was a different
story. For the first and second battle only, the Italians get two additional
support points (before any division or rounding of points) per battle.
Whole Campaign –
With the help of the partisans the Italians can reclaim their wounded better
than the Germans. When working out casualties at the end of the battle the
Italians can instantly return one additional casualty (including an officer) to
duty
5.0.2 German
Special Rules
Whole Campaign –
Apart from the Italians, the Germans had to content with a small but violent
band of Greek Partisans on the island. The first ‘5’ rolled each game by the
Germans is disregarded.
5.0.3 Both Sides
Whole Campaign – If you give ground (where permitted) and the initiative to your opponent you may immediately return up to 2 casualties to your force. This represents trading space for time.
