#25 Flash Point: Fire Rescue (2011)
Synopsis
Flash Point: Fire Rescue
is a cooperative game about domestic firefighting.
It’s a great little fun
game with easy to understand rules and concepts. There are two things about
this game which puts it so high on my list: who doesn’t want to be a fire
fighter and it’s a good game when no one wants to think particularly hard.

#24 Hotshots (2017)
Synopsis
Another similar game to
Flash Point, Hotshots is a cooperative game about firefighting, but this time
about bushfires.
Hotshots adds a little
more flavour with containment lines, changes in wind direction and speed to
give you a little more to think about but still in a fun, random, quick,
random game.

#23 Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 (2009)
Synopsis
The original Axis and
Allies was a global game from the 1980’s which depicted the global conflict
that was world war 2 from 1942 onwards.
In subsequent decades
more and more axis and allies were released depicting all times and theatres
of the conflict.
2009 saw the re-release
of Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 which you assumed control of one of the major
powers of the pacific theatre from 1940. This meant that China was explored
in more detail (than previous games) and there were more political rules
(particularly regarding the allies (and US) entry into the war).
When this game was
released I saw an opportunity to get in on a game which I wanted when I was
younger but missed out. It also depicted a period of history that was
important that is often an ignored part of WW2.
Axis and Allies Pacific
1940, like all Axis and Allies games is a fun dudes-on-a-map, dice-chucker
game to play with the lads, a good way to spend an afternoon!

#22 Seal Team Flix (2018)
Synopsis
Seal Team Flix is a
cooperative strategy-dexterity game which tries to bring the action of a
first person shooter video game to the table top.
As players you assume
the role of an elite Navy Seal who is tasked with completing missions (there
is also a campaign with an evolving story included) in which you can level up
your character and equipment (once they gain more experience).
The video game cliché
bad guys are all here – they patrol ones who walk a set route no matter what,
ones which run to a noise source and ones which stay put behind cover.
It is up to the players
how they attack these missions which brings the strategy element. The
dexterity element is used for actions. For instance, do you want to shoot
your pistol, flick a disc and see if you can hit the bad guy, fire a machine
gun, flick multiple discs (but make more sound). The boards have little walls
on them so it’s even possible for your shots to ricochet off walls and still
do damage to (friends) and foes.
Seal Team Flix is a fun
blend between two styles of games most people will find fun on a casual games
night.

#21 Battle Cry (2000)
Synopsis
Battle Cry is a game for
2 players which simulates battles during the US Civil War.
Battle Cry is a game
which uses Richard Borg’s efficient system to simulate battles in a way which
keeps rules to a minimum but heavy on strategy and fun.
In Battle Cry players
assume the role of either Union or Confederate battlefield commanders during
1 of 16 Civil War battles. Simplified historical number of troops are used
for each side and cards are used by players to undertake actions.
It is a wonderfully
simple game that is easy to play, even with people that do not have any
interested in the source material. Oh and the miniatures (with all the flags)
really bring the game alive!
