Hi All,
So back to the vineyards! Progress has slowed a little due to a bout of man-flu but should be better soon.
So last part left the vineyards in a pretty rudimentary shape.
The next steps included undercoating with Army Painter 'Leather Brown'. I wanted a lighter colour but its what I had, so it got used!
I then dry-brushed the dirt up with warpaint's skeleton bone and then added a bit of white to it for a final dry-brush. I dry-brushed the posts with a bit of monster brown (with some white mixed in) just to give them a little variation. I didnt really worry about the armatures as they would mostly be covered.
Here is how they came out
One (of the two) geographic settings I have a great affinity with is the almost yellow shale soils of southern Italy, Sicily and the Mediterranean islands (along with the de-saturated purples, pinks and green-grey) so I wanted to go a bit dryer look. I think the colour they ended up will probably be more flexible for other theaters though.
Next up was adding a bit of flocking to the base. I went with a mix of woodland scenics yellow and burnt grass. Sticking with the dryer theme, it was all about keeping the grass to a minimum (although I might still do the odd tuft here and there at the end).
After this dried I then got out some black thread and tied two sets to either post and trimmed off the excess (some left in the pictures for demonstration purposes). I affixed the twine with a knot and bit of superglue at either end.
That is it for this time. Next update should bring them to their conclusion!
