World War 2 Italian Terrain - Vineyards (Part 3 - Final)

So I am back to finishing off all the stands of vineyards. The next step was to stick clumps of foliage down. Starting with a 'olive green bushes' and then building it up with 'light green clump' (both from woodland scenics) I went about creating some vines. I have to say that there are many types of vines out there and the stands I made only resemble some of them. So I was quite happen with how they worked out. In the later stands I made them less 'bushy' and more scrappy which probably improved their look but I have a bit of a variety. To be honest though I think they do the trick and for abstract terrain they get across the point of vineyards nicely. It was a learning experience anyway! Not sure what will be next with this build, maybe some roads, fields or buildings... Until then

Hi All, So back to the vineyards! Progress has slowed a little due to a bout of man-flu but should be better soon. So last part left the vineyards in a pretty rudimentary shape. The next steps included undercoating with Army Painter 'Leather Brown'. I wanted a lighter colour but its what I had, so it got used! I dry-brushed the posts with a bit of monster brown (with some white mixed in) just to give them a little variation. I didnt really worry about the armatures as they would mostly be covered. Here is how they came out One (of the two) geographic settings I have a great affinity with is the almost yellow shale soils of southern Italy, Sicily and the Mediterranean islands (along with the de-saturated purples, pinks and green-grey) so I wanted to go a bit dryer look. I think the colour they ended up will probably be more flexible for other
